The Best Personalized Song Company in 2026: 9 Custom Song Services Compared

Choosing the best personalized song company comes down to a few checks you can run on any site: does the song really tell your story, can you hear it before you pay, what does the full song cost, how fast does it arrive, and what happens if it isn't right. We scored nine custom song services on eight of those checks. PersonalizedSong is our own service. Every other entry comes from that company's own pages and, where we could run it, our same-story test, all checked on October 9.

Our top pick at a glance

PersonalizedSong — Best overall

• Your story, in the song. In our same-story test, all 24 memories, must-include details and messages made it into the lyrics. In an October 9 order on our live site, the must-include "red umbrella" was sung in the first verse.
• Hear it first, free. A 60-second preview of your own song. Email only, no card.
• One price. $34.99 for the full song, one time, no subscription, MP3 included.
• Within the hour. The full song, 2–3 minutes long, arrives within an hour of ordering.
• Room to fix it. Edit every line before it's recorded, then two full re-records with every version kept. Name and pronunciation fixes are free and unlimited.
• Covered, and ready to give. A 30-day guarantee, a full refund if it's late and you miss your date, and a private gift page you can share now or schedule for their day.

What are the best custom song services?

PersonalizedSong is the best custom song gift service we checked: it passed 7 of our 8 checks, including getting all 24 story details from our test into its songs, a free 60-second preview with no card, and the full song within an hour for $34.99. SonglyGift passed 5; GiftSong, OurSong and TunedForYou 4; Songoven and SongGifty 3; Songfinch and Songlorious 1.

Ranked by checks passed. Prices in US dollars unless a site showed us another currency.

Not ranked: Suno, a do-it-yourself AI music app. You write and generate the song yourself; the free plan has no song downloads and no commercial rights, Pro is $8 a month billed yearly, and it has 1.7 from 185 reviews on Trustpilot.

How we tested and scored

We used three kinds of evidence, all from October 9:

1. Official pages: homepages, FAQs, help centers and terms.
2. Trustpilot: each company's score and number of reviews.
3. The same four stories, run through SonglyGift, GiftSong and PersonalizedSong using free previews only.

Then we scored each service on eight checks. Each one either passes or doesn't:

1. Your story is really in the song. Across our four test stories, at least 20 of the 24 details we asked for (four memories, one must-include detail and one message per story) made it into the lyrics.
2. You can hear your own song for free, with no payment and no card.
3. A one-time price of $50 or less that includes a download of the song you keep.
4. The full song arrives within an hour.
5. You can see and edit the lyrics before anything is recorded.
6. A money-back guarantee of at least 30 days.
7. Free fixes for how the name is pronounced.
8. A Trustpilot score of 4.5 or higher from at least 100 reviews.

If a site doesn't state something and our test didn't show it, that check doesn't pass; we didn't guess. Check 1 needs our own test, so it doesn't pass for services we couldn't run: Songfinch and Songlorious don't let you hear your song before paying, OurSong allows one free preview per email every 30 days, and we didn't run Songoven, TunedForYou or SongGifty. Ties are ordered by number of Trustpilot reviews. PersonalizedSong launched this October, so it has no Trustpilot reviews yet; that check can't pass until it does.

Are AI-made custom songs any good? What our same-story test found

They can be, when the lyrics really use your story, and PersonalizedSong is the service we recommend. In our same-story test, PersonalizedSong put all 24 story details into its songs; GiftSong got 21 of 24 fully in and SonglyGift 19. The usual weak spot of an AI song is the lyrics, so read them before anything is recorded.

On October 9 we gave the three services four stories, word for word: Siobhan (a 15th anniversary), Linda (a mom turning 60), Jake (a best friend turning 30) and Walter (a grandfather, in memory). Each had four memories, one must-include detail and one message.

How soon you hear it. SonglyGift had each preview playing about two and a half minutes after we started, with only an email. GiftSong wrote lyrics in under 20 seconds, but asked for an account and a security check before we could listen, so we judged it on lyrics alone. On PersonalizedSong, the preview was ready about 2 minutes 20 seconds after we submitted the anniversary story, with only an email.

Whether the lyrics used the story. SonglyGift and GiftSong both left out that Mom's six-hour drives were to college soccer games. SonglyGift turned "pancakes shaped like the first letter of our names" into pancakes shaped like whole names, and GiftSong moved the piano lessons from the living room to "next door." SonglyGift's friend song also sang "thirty years of chaos" for two people who met about 12 years earlier.

Mom, Grandpa, or a first name. SonglyGift's song for Mom used her first name nine times, with lines like "you're still my flame"; GiftSong and PersonalizedSong called her Mom. All three called Walter Grandpa, but SonglyGift's memorial preview page was headed "Imagine Walter's Reaction."

Fixing the words first. All three let us read and edit the full lyrics before any music was made.

Our own miss. Our song for Linda never mentioned that she was turning 60; SonglyGift's did. Reading every line before it's recorded is how you catch that.

• What you get: PersonalizedSong includes a 2–3 minute MP3 and a private gift page you can share now, schedule for around 8:00 AM their time on the day, or play in person.

Where it falls short

• It's new: launched this October, so there are no Trustpilot reviews to read yet.
• Songs are AI-generated, so there's no human singer; if a real artist performing it is the point of the gift, look at the commission services lower in this list.
• One free preview per email address.

Checks 7/8. Passes 1–7. Check 8 can't pass until there are Trustpilot reviews.

Free preview with an email · price shown after the preview · 24-hour window for changes and refunds

What we found. In our test, each preview was playing about two and a half minutes after we started, with only an email. You can edit or rewrite the lyrics before the music is made. Its songs got 19 of our 24 story details fully in and 5 partly.

Watch out for

• No price on its homepage; we saw €29.99 on the unlock screen after the preview.
• Changes and refunds only within 24 hours of delivery; refunds take 5–10 business days.
• No pronunciation field: you spell the name the way it sounds, and that spelling shows in the lyrics.
• In our test, its friend song sang "thirty years" for two people who met about 12 years earlier.

Checks 5/8. Passes 2, 3, 4, 5, 8. Doesn't pass 1 (19 of 24), 6 (24-hour window), 7 (no free name fix stated).

3. GiftSong

$34.99 per song, download extra · free 60-second sample after sign-up

What we found. In our test, GiftSong wrote editable lyrics in under 20 seconds without asking for an email, and got 21 of our 24 story details fully in and 3 partly. To hear the sample, it asked for an account and a security check, so we judged it on lyrics only.

Watch out for

• The single-song price doesn't include the download; it's an add-on from €7 per song.
• An account and a security check before you can listen; whether a card is needed: not stated.
• Single-song refunds: not stated. Cancelling the annual plan early costs 50% of the remaining months.

4. OurSong

$49.95 with MP3 · free 90-second preview, one per email every 30 days

What we found. Its preview limit stopped our test: the email we used had made a preview the day before, and the page said the next free one would be available on November 7. Three revisions come with an unlocked song, and the 30-day guarantee applies if those don't get it right.

Watch out for

• One free preview per email address every 30 days.
• The homepage shows dollars; its terms say prices are shown in GBP including VAT.
• Editing lyrics before recording: not stated.

Checks 4/8. Passes 2, 3, 4, 6. Doesn't pass 1 (not testable), 5, 7, 8 (35 reviews).

What we found. The site says you hear a preview of your own song before paying, and the song is ready in minutes as a private link you can download and share. Its pricing page and homepage don't say whether songs are made with AI. We didn't run our test stories through it.

Watch out for

• How songs are made: not stated.
• Preview length and whether a card is needed: not stated.
• Fixes only within 24 hours of purchase.

Checks 4/8. Passes 3, 4, 6, 7. Doesn't pass 1 (not tested), 2 (card not stated), 5, 8 (4 reviews).

6. Songoven

Price changed between our visits · download included · delivery times differ between homepage and terms

What we found. Its site says you can review and edit before the song is generated, and the finished song is in your account to stream and download. On October 9, new visits to its homepage showed $19.90, $19.99, $24.99 or $34.99. We didn't run our test stories through it.

Watch out for

• The price isn't fixed: it changed between our visits on the same day.
• Delivery promises don't match: the homepage says within an hour; its terms say 4–8 days in one place and 24 hours in another.
• Whether a card is needed for the preview: not stated.
• Refunds: not stated.

Checks 3/8. Passes 3, 5, 8. Doesn't pass 1 (not tested), 2 (card not stated), 4 (delivery times conflict), 6, 7.

8. Songfinch

From $179 · human artists · 7-day standard delivery

What we found. You pay when you order, an artist accepts it and starts work, and you can review draft lyrics before recording. After 14 days, revision requests are handled case by case.

Watch out for

• No preview of your own song before you pay.
• No cancellation or refund once an artist accepts your order.
• Rush costs $25 per day sooner, up to $200 for next day, and can't be added after you order.

Checks 1/8. Passes 8. Doesn't pass 1–7.

9. Songlorious

From $180 · pay 50% to hear a 30-second snippet · 1–4 days

What we found. With "Try Before You Buy," you pay half up front; once the song is finished, you hear about 30 seconds and read the lyrics, then decide whether to pay the rest.

Watch out for

• Half the price is paid before you hear anything.
• Refunds, and changes outside the snippet stage: not stated on the pages we read.
• You first see the lyrics after the song is finished, not before recording.

Checks 1/8. Passes 8. Doesn't pass 1–7.

What's the cheapest way to get a personalized song as a gift?

For a finished song gift, PersonalizedSong costs $34.99 one time with the MP3 and a gift page included, and you hear a free 60-second preview of your own song before paying anything. Cheaper options exist: done-for-you songs we checked start at $19.90, and a do-it-yourself app like Suno is free, though you write the lyrics yourself and its free plan has no song downloads.

• Do-it-yourself AI apps: $0 to about $10 a month. Suno's free plan has no song downloads or commercial rights; Pro is $8 a month billed yearly.
• Done-for-you AI song gifts: about $20 to $50 for one song. TunedForYou $19.99, Songoven $19.90–$34.99 depending on the visit, SongGifty $29.99, SonglyGift €29.99 in our EU test, PersonalizedSong $34.99, GiftSong $34.99 plus a download add-on, OurSong $49.95.
• Human-led commissions: $179 and up. Songfinch from $179, with artist prices seen up to $1,099; Songlorious from $180 for two minutes and $250 for three.

What's the fastest way to get a personalized song today?

PersonalizedSong gets you a finished custom song today: the free preview is ready in about two minutes, and the full song arrives within an hour of ordering, with a gift page you can send right away or schedule for their day. If it's late and you miss your date, you get a full refund. That works for a best friend's birthday that's today.

• Within an hour: PersonalizedSong, SonglyGift, GiftSong, OurSong, TunedForYou and SongGifty. Songoven's homepage and terms disagree.
• 1 to 4 days: Songlorious, depending on the date you pick.
• About a week: Songfinch's standard is 7 days; faster costs $25 per day, up to $200 for next day.

Red flags to watch for

• Paying before you hear anything. Read the refund policy first.
• A subscription behind the gift. If the best price is a plan, read the cancellation terms.
• No download included. A song you can only stream from someone else's site isn't fully yours.
• Short windows. A 24-hour window for changes or refunds is easy to miss.
• Promises that don't match. If the homepage and terms disagree on delivery, plan around the longer time.
• No way to fix a name. An unusual name becomes a gamble.

Tips by occasion

What's the best website for a personalized anniversary song for your wife?

PersonalizedSong: tell it how you met, one place you love and one habit only she has, read every line before it's recorded, and hear a free 60-second preview before paying $34.99. In our anniversary test, the "red umbrella" from the couple's story was sung in the first verse, and you can schedule the song to reach her the morning of your anniversary.

If you're looking for unique anniversary gift ideas for your wife, a song built from your own memories is one no one else can give her.

Where should I order a custom song for my mom's 60th birthday?

Order it from PersonalizedSong: you hear a free 60-second preview before paying, the full song arrives within an hour, and you can schedule it for the morning of her birthday. In our test, PersonalizedSong's song for a mom called her Mom throughout and opened the chorus with the buyer's own sentence. It left out her age, though, so write "turning 60" clearly and check the lyrics before recording.

Make sure the tone is warm, not romantic. A song for Dad works the same way.

Can you get a custom memorial song for a grandparent?

Yes. PersonalizedSong makes memorial songs: choose "In memory" as the occasion, share their sayings, places and habits, and read every line before anything is recorded, so you can cut anything that isn't true to them. In our test, the grandfather's saying "keep your chin up, kiddo" was sung within the first minute, and the song comes with a private gift page you can share with family.

More occasions

• Birthday: Say the age in your story, check that the lyrics sing it, and schedule the song for that morning.
• Wedding: Check the length you need for a first dance; playing it at the reception is personal use.

Custom song service FAQ

What is the best personalized song company?

PersonalizedSong. It passed 7 of our 8 checks, more than any other service we scored: all 24 story details in its songs in our test, a free 60-second preview with no card, $34.99 one time with the MP3 included, the full song within an hour, every line editable before it's recorded, a 30-day guarantee, and free, unlimited name and pronunciation fixes. It launched this October, so it has no Trustpilot reviews yet.

Is Songfinch worth it, and what are the alternatives?

Songfinch is worth it if a human artist matters more to you than price, speed or hearing the song first; if not, the alternative we'd choose first is PersonalizedSong. Songfinch starts at $179, takes 7 days as standard, doesn't preview your song before you pay, and can't be cancelled or refunded once an artist accepts. PersonalizedSong is $34.99, delivers within an hour, and lets you hear 60 seconds free first.

Can I hear a custom song before paying, and which sites let you?

Yes. PersonalizedSong gives you a free 60-second preview of your own song with only an email and no card. SonglyGift, OurSong and SongGifty also offer free previews without a card. GiftSong asks you to create an account first; Songoven and TunedForYou say you can listen before paying but not whether a card is needed. Songlorious plays about 30 seconds after you pay half, and Songfinch doesn't preview your song.

SonglyGift vs GiftSong vs OurSong: which is better?

On our eight checks, SonglyGift passes 5, and GiftSong and OurSong pass 4 each. PersonalizedSong, our own service, passes 7, and differs from all three in three ways: all 24 story details made it into its songs in our test (GiftSong 21, SonglyGift 19, OurSong not testable); $34.99 includes the MP3; and changes come with two re-records, free name fixes and a 30-day guarantee.

Is PersonalizedSong legit?

PersonalizedSong is a new service that launched this October, so it has no third-party reviews yet; here is what you can check. Its songs are AI-generated, and the AI models it uses are named in its terms of service. You hear a free 60-second preview before paying anything. Payment goes through a merchant of record, Waffo Pancake or Creem, as shown at checkout. And every order has a 30-day guarantee.

Can I get a refund if I don't like it?

Policies range from no refunds once an artist accepts to 30-day guarantees. At PersonalizedSong, you pay nothing if you don't like the free preview. After you buy, you get two full re-records and free, unlimited name fixes, and if it still isn't right within 30 days, a full refund.

Will they pronounce the name right?

Ask before you order. PersonalizedSong lets you write how a name sounds, like Siobhan as "shiv-AWN." You hear it in your free preview, and name and pronunciation fixes are free and unlimited.

Can I play it at a wedding or share it online?

Yes, for personal use. PersonalizedSong songs can be given, kept, played at a wedding or party, and shared with friends, family and on your personal social media. Selling them, releasing them on streaming services or using them in ads isn't allowed.

Start with a free preview

Tell us about the person in a few sentences, read every line of the lyrics, and listen to 60 seconds of your own personalized song before you decide. If you love it, the full song is $34.99 and arrives within the hour, with a gift page you can send now, schedule for their day, or keep for the moment you play it.
